The Leading Note Music student of the month for February 2015 is Dinuri Punchihewa!   Dinuri was awarded the 2014 RCM gold medal in grade 1 piano for her astounding mark of 99 on this exam.  She received her medal on February 1, 2015 at Koerner Hall.  Congratulations Dinuri!

Dinuri is 12 years old and is in grade 7 at school.  She has been taking lessons for 2½ years and is currently preparing for the North York Music Festival, the Oshawa Whitby Kiwanis Music Festival and a grade 2 piano exam in April. Dinuri finds music soothing.   Dinuri is a very attentive and diligent piano student who is particularly skilled at phrasing her music.

In addition to playing the piano, Dinuri likes to study, swim , play soccer, and read. She enjoys Nancy Drew mysteries.  When she grows up, she would like to become a doctor because she likes to help people and her strongest subject is science.  Her favourite colour is blue and her favourite dessert is Tiramisu. She does not like summer because it gets so hot outside.  She prefers winter and fall.  Dinuri is the eldest of two children and her little sister Esandi began her studies of piano less than one year ago.

Please enjoy Dinuri performing Turkish Bazaar and Ecossaise in G Major.
