Lesson Scheduling

Lesson times are scheduled at the mutual agreement of teacher and client, subject to the availability of open lesson times. When you reserve your time slot, you are doing so for the teaching year.  The teaching year runs from September 1 to August 31. Piano lessons fees are due monthly in advance on or before the first of the month.  All overdue accounts are subject to to a $10 late fee.

Private Lesson Cancellations

A portion of your lesson fee covers lesson planning and preparation outside your time slot. (Please see "What does your lesson fee cover?" for more details.)  Additionally, frequently cancelled lessons disrupt the learning process of the student.  For these reasons, there are no refunds for missed lessons cancelled by students/parents for any reason.  If a student/parent cancels a lesson with appropriate notice,  a make up lesson can be scheduled by the student/parent in an open lesson time slot using the student/parent portal.  Phone or "skype" lessons during the student's regular lesson time are also an option for those who are mildly sick or for inclement weather.  Appropriate notice occurs when 6 hours advance notice is given via the student/parent portal.  If notice is not given, students and parents should not expect a make up lesson.

In cases of unexpected illness or emergencies, notification should be given as soon as possible by phone or email.

Leading Note Music will be closed during some, but not all holidays.  These dates will be posted in the studio calendar.

Partner Lesson Cancellations

There are no refunds or make ups for missed lessons cancelled by students/parents for any reason.

Teacher Re-scheduling

Leading Note Music reserves the right to re-schedule lessons occasionally.  This could occur due to music festivals, competitions, and other events.  When this is the case,  a minimum 24 hours will be given via email and the revised student lesson schedule will be available through the student/parent portal.

Termination

One month's written notice is required to withdraw from lessons, even on a temporary basis. In the case of temporary withdrawal, Leading Note Music can't guarantee the availability of a time slot upon return. If time slots are unavailable, Leading Note Music can wait list returning students or recommend another teacher upon request.

Registration and Registration Fee

Each student who pursues music study is subject to a $20 annual registration fee.  This fee is used to partially cover costs associated with the rental of the recital venues and the monthly subscription to Tonic Tutor.
