Lesson Scheduling

Lesson times are scheduled at the mutual agreement of teacher and client, subject to the availability of open lesson times. When you reserve your time slot, you are doing so for the teaching year.  The teaching year runs from September 1 to August 31. Piano lessons fees are due monthly in advance on or before the first of the month.  All overdue accounts are subject to to a $10 late fee.

Lesson Cancellations

A portion of your lesson fee covers lesson planning and preparation outside your time slot. (Please see "What does your lesson fee cover?" for more details.)  Additionally, frequently cancelled lessons disrupt the learning process of the student.  For these reasons, there are no refunds for missed lessons cancelled by students/parents for any reason.  If a student/parent cancels a lesson using the student/parent portal at least 24 hours before lesson start time,  a make up lesson can be scheduled by the student/parent in an open lesson time slot using the student/parent portal.   If notice is not given regarding cancellations via the student/parent portal, students and parents should not expect a make up lesson.  A maximum of 6 make up lessons is allowed per teaching year.  Makeup lessons may be given by other than your usual teacher and this can include teacher apprentices.

In cases of unexpected illness or emergencies, notification should be given as soon as possible by phone or email.

Leading Note Music will be closed during some, but not all holidays.  These dates will be posted in the studio calendar.

Teacher Re-scheduling

Leading Note Music reserves the right to re-schedule lessons.  Re-scheduled lessons can be given in studio or online.  This could occur due to music festivals, competitions, and other events.  When this is the case,  a minimum 24 hours will be given via email and the revised student lesson schedule will be available through the student/parent portal.  In the case of teacher illness, notice may be given in less than 24 hours by email or text.

Termination

One month's written notice is required to withdraw from lessons, even on a temporary basis. In the case of temporary withdrawal, Leading Note Music can't guarantee the availability of a time slot upon return. If time slots are unavailable, Leading Note Music can wait list returning students or recommend another teacher upon request.

Registration and Registration Fee

Each student who pursues music study is subject to a $25 annual registration fee.  This fee is used to partially cover costs associated with the rental of the recital venues and subscriptions to online tools such as Tonic Tutor, Internet Midi, and Classroom Maestro.
